It is not everyday that I get to kiss a sculptured angel on the forehead, pose with a rusty old bike and twirl on the lawn. This is exactly what I did in February 2017 during my tour at the Anton Smit Sculpture Park in Bronkhorstspruit, a town about 50km east of Pretoria. There is also Imagine Café on the premises, but it was unfortunately closed by the time I was there on the Sunday afternoon.

We got really lost getting here from Centurion, but the road-trip was totally worth it. This sculpture park (gallery) is loaded with hidden visual artifacts. There is so much to touch, experience and see. I am fascinated by it all. I really like the fact that one can get up close and personal with the artwork.

The art is not barricaded and you can touch it. The garden is immaculate. I love the trees, flowers and hidden artworks scattered all over. You can see a lot of naked sculptures, things on the ground, stuff hanging in trees and plotted all over.

I love nature and have an extra appreciation of the location being outside and from a distance one can get breathtaking views of Bronkhorstspruit Dam. I am so grateful to my wonderful travel companion for bringing me to this incredible gallery. It was amazing. Truly worth the road-trip.
