When our waiter told us that the chicken was going to take no less than 30 minutes to get ready, I must admit that I was secretly tempted to walk out or change my order. We were hungry and therefore asked that the orders come out as they were ready.

First the fried fish and veggies came out. It was generous and somewhat okay. Then the beef burger was brought to the table around the time the one eating the fish was nearly done eating. The beef burger was very delicious with caramelized onions and chips. It was one of the tastiest burgers I have eaten in a long time.

Eventually after growling tummies were made worse by watching others at the table eat their food; the chicken orders were served. The food was delicious. Before the main meal, we were given a complimentary starter of fresh bread buns, which were nothing short of downright tasty.

I had tried to come to Eugene's Casa Portuguesa & Pub before on a Sunday afternoon and it was closed. We'd tried on several occasions, after it was recommended to me by a friend. I must say, even though one waits rather long for the chicken (and it was weird eating at different times), the food did not disappoint.

The decor of the place is really captivating and gives you the feeling that you are somewhere far away. The open outdoor sitting area at the back was full (with reason) and absolutely no one was sitting inside. The back is open, friendly and inviting.

The customer service from the waiters is a pleasure to experience. Even just watching how the servers help each other and interact is so encouraging. We were impressed to note that there is a baby changing room. The only down side was the filthy baby feeding chair, but based on our overall experience and the wonderful food and vibe, it was a minor. I really enjoyed my time at this Portuguese family restaurant this October 2017.
